World Cup The Last Sixteen and The Last Eight

The last Sixteen teams in the World Cup:


Brazil vs. Chile - 28th Saturday June 2014 5pm Kick off


Brazil as the host of the World Cup 2014 went into the last sixteen as favourite to win, because Brazil never have lost against Chile before in any match against them but both teams started off evenly matched with the winner getting in the last eight, but it was Brazil who struck first will a knee shot into the net by David Luiz hitting the back of the net.


Chile where about to hit back at them in the first half to make everything level at 1-1 a pieces and both team carried on playing well giving each other chances leaving the first half level.


The second half both teams carried on like the first trying to make something that would lead to a go with Colombia taking from distance going right over in the stands but they had get passing position getting it to each playing without losing it much, Brazil where so good with the passing with the ball but did get the ball in the net.


But the goal didn't stand because it hit the hand of the player before then it was shot into the net everyone thought it was in Howard Webb gave the goal talk to his lines man how flagged it, who said it touch the players hand they agreed and the goal was disallowed keeping the game level to still 1-1


The games referee was Howard Webb a English man who refereed the last World Cup final that was the Netherlands vs. Spain, Spain won the match in 2010 to become the World Cup holders and this is the second game Howard Webb has been referee in this World Cup.


The winner of this match would play the winner of Columbia vs. Uruguay
                                       

Uruguay vs. Columbia - Saturday 28th June 2014 9pm kick off


Columbia came out fight early in the game getting a free kick early, that was punched out by the Uruguay goalie and the game started like people where saying it would be a dirty again with lots of fouls and free kicks being given in the first ten minutes of the game.


Columbia trying taking a clever little corner by him rolling the ball out to put it in play then, leaving the ball running over to the other people in the box and another player of he team running over to the ball then trying to running by having a close corner that has actually does count that made the other team confused but the referee and linesman didn't agree with it, so they had to re-take the corner that was took normal into the box that missed.


As two South American team they where expected to have lots of fouls in the game lots of that with no yellow card being shown to any player in the first twenty six minutes, but in the twenty seventh minute James Rodriguez score a stunning goal from taking a strike from a distance hitting the top of the post then into the goal, the goalie went the right way but wasn't able to save it by seconds.


To make it one nil to Columbia and the game carried on with no cards for anymore with some crazy fouls and pushes that should have been given lots of cards.


The first half end 1 nil to Colombia, but in the second half Colombia where able to take enough goal to make it 2- 0 with the help again from James Rodriguez again to make he's goal scoring record has got to 5 goals in 4 matches for Colombia in this World Cup  hammering another stunning goal in, also he was took off in the eighty fourth minute.


Uruguay had there chances in the second half but weren't able to get them two goals they need to drawed level they came close a couple time to a goal but the Colombia goal keeper had it handled and there was also lots more fouls from both teams there was even a yellow card for a subtitle player how wasn't even on the pitch for shouting, standing up on the line when a argument between team he could play any way because he was injured but this means now he will miss the next game if theyhad  got through, because he was on a yellow card all ready.


Uruguay missed Luiz to help there front line attacking positions, who has been banned for four months from any sporting actives and a nine match ban from playing for Uruguay

                                                         
                                                 Holland vs. Mexico

Mexico came into this game as the underdogs trying to upset a good Netherlands team with them firing in some really good goals, but Mexico have showed why they should be here with them on a level playing field for this game and the game started with both teams getting chances to take a lead in the game with Mexico show some top class football in the first half with the game unlikely to still be a one nil in this first half with the score ending at Netherlands 0-0 Mexico with goal less first half. 

The second half started with a lot more going forward with both teams want to take the lead to change the game there way and Mexico made the break threw with Giovani dos Santos left footed shot in the right corner made it one nil in the 48th minute to Mexico 1-0 Netherlands and then their was a cooling down break.

After the cooling down break the game changed more into Netherlands attacking a lot more just after a quick break with Mexico goal keeper Ochoa makes a brilliant save from De Vrij to keep the score at 1-0 to Mexico, Then Netherlands found the goal they where looking for with it coming from
Sneijder with a right footed shot into the bottom left corner with Assisted coming by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the 88th minute.


Then it has heartbreak for Mexico with a late goal to steal the game from them scored by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to put the penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner in the 90th minute, to make the score Netherlands 2-1 Mexico lost the game by one goal with them unlikely to be knocked out a un par Netherlands how didn't really get going in till the cooling down break.

The USA played there best to try to reach the last Eight but just missed out by one goal the game was close to the very end but just missed out by a one goal difference, that could have took them to injury time or a penalty shoot the USA gave there all to try to win there first World Cup with there German coach Jürgen Klinsmann who has been assistant coach to German manger still present at the moment of this world cup.

They where both put into the same group and played each over in the last match on the three group matches that end 0 USA- Germany 1 with a close game that could have gone anyway that put both teams through to the last sixth teen.

 The USA group was one of the hardest groups in this world cup which include Germany, Portugal, Nigeria, but they did escape having any South American country in there group, when playing in South America.

Belgium started off on top with trying to take a early lead with most of the pressure on the USA at the start of the match, with the USA goal keeper Tim Howard saves an early chance from Divock Origi with his legs, But with goal keeper Tim Howard that match stayed this way in the first half and the USA at some chances, but not as clear as what Belgium had in the first half in the match.


The left the game some how goal less at USA 0-0 Belgium with some great saves from Tim Howard that plays in the English premiership league for Everton Football Club.


The second half Divock Origi had another good chance to put Belgium in front but it wasnt to be leaving the score at 0-0 and the USA had more chance in this half Clint Dempsey left footed shot is saved in the bottom left corner.


Chris Wondolowski right footed shot is too high, also Belgium got a good chance near the end of the 90 mintues of normal time Marouane Fellaini header from very close range is too high but it couldnt steal the game leaving the game at 90 mintues USA 0-0 Belgium, now the game goes on first part of Extra time.


The USA had the first chance of the Extra time coming from Jermaine Jones header from the right side of the six yard box but it wasnt good enough to get a goal, but in the second mintue Extra time in the 92nd mintue, Belguim found the goal they were looking for coming from Kevin De Bruyne with a right footed shot hitting the bottom left corner of the net to make it Belguim 1-0 USA.


Then in the 104 mintue of the game Belgium struck again from Romelu Lukaku left footed shot hitting the top left corner of the net to make it Belgium 2-0 USA and then there was a quick reply from the USA, becuase in the 106 minute Julian Green right footed shot hit the bottom right corner of the net to give the USA hope of getting back in the game to make it Belguim 2-1 USA to start the second half of Extra time.


The USA had the best of the Chance in this half with the USA unlikely not to get the goal they needed, DeAndre Yedlin from the USA right footed shot from a difficult angle but was to high and this left the game to ended with the score at Belgium 2-1 USA.

Argentina vs Switzerland   

Argentina started the game very slow and the game never really picked up even with Messi on the field the Switzerland where more on top in the first have but both team barley had many shots at goal and the game was very poor for entertainment value from both team but the best team in the first half was Switzerland so the first half ended 0-0.


The second Half had both teams starting off like the first but Switzerland where a great chances to take a early second half lead but nether team had enough power and skill to get a goal.
The match carried on like this for most of the match with not many chances for each team, Switzerland had the best of the chances trying to upset Argentina, they just couldn't take any of the chances.
After 90 minutes the match was still at the score of 0-0 and now both teams had a quick break, then because it is the last sixteen it is a knock out system then Extra time started
                       
                             
                         2 France vs Nigeria 0


France last sixteen game was against Nigeria that has had a every up and down of this tournament with them playing well against some average teams in there group, but Nigeria will a tough because Nigeria have had a mixed tournament as well with them having a great game against a tough Germany but not able to take the three points from that game even with them scoring goals.


Nigeria will be going all out to upset France as they nearly did to Germany and other teams to give Africa a team into the in the last eight but only if they can beat a French team that has been playing well in this World Cup, also this is a big game for both teams because not only the winner gets to the last eight but both teams have never met in the World Cup before will this being there first game in the World Cup against each other.


Both teams started off this game with playing safe but France were the most pushy for the goal in this first half of the match, but Nigeria had a chances to make it one nil but they couldn't do it and this left the game at France 0-0 Nigeria at HT leaving both team still with a chance of winning the game.


The second half started with both teams knowing they needed in least a goal to take them to the last eight with Victor Moses cleared Karim Benzema's shot off the line and Yohan Cabaye hit against the bar as France pressed for the goal they need to take the game.


In the 79th minute of the game France was able to get the first game make the score France 1- Nigeria 0 with  Paul Pogba getting the goal with a header into the bottom right corner of the net and Nigeria tried hard to try to get back into the game with them knowing without a goal they would be out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.


But France got another in the 90th minute of the game but it wasn't a French player how scored it, it was a own goal from Joseph Yobo of Nigeria to end the game for Nigeria World Cup to make the score France 2-0 Nigeria, with France's both goals coming in the last 11 minute of the game.


Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi said "I thought the referee made a lot of mistakes and was very lenient to the French players.


France Coach said Didier Deschamps"We had a very strong last half an hour with more dynamism and more speed. We had space to create chances and we could have scored quite a few times.
